Approaching darkness..

So the last few days of sun are finally upon us.. Every time the sun peeks out above the horizon  its a big scramble as everyone runs for their cams to get a shot of the last bit of sun. 

We also went for a hike or five the last couple of days, nothing major, but its great just to get out of the  base and sit and stare at the sun going down or the stars or unexpected aurora (I have to say, there are few things as awesome as discovering a mind-blowing aurora on a midnight smelly trip).

The weather is really sucky again this morning, so we have probably seen the sun for the last time till after  the winter. Bring on the dark yeo!

Superheroes attack!

Saturday eve we had a dress up as your own made up superhero party at the local pub. The results were pretty funny (some more disturbing than others though). Probably the best part of the day was prepping the food. This included mini pizzas, sticky chicken, random biscuits and dips, rice crispy cookies, mini skewers and more. Needless to say, there was way more food than 10 people can consume in one evening..

The costumes and characters ranged from showing up as yourself to properly dressed up with weird (unintentional) face markings and the works.

The highlight of the evening was the Superhero Foosball cup, which was ultimately won by Captain SA (i think it maybe had something to do with the distractor-speedo outfit he had going!). Second was Monochrome (also probably cause people were too scared of him, so they ma let him win..)

Storms and static!

We are currently in the middle of a whiteout - fun times! Rattling cups and closet doors, static like crazy, and the ever present droning sound that makes it feel like you are in some sort of space ship.

When the wind passes around 50kts, the static is so bad it can turn on a fluorescent lightbulb!

Awesome yea?!

From the weather report it seems that the storm will last till atleast Monday, so seems like another movies-in-bed weekend...
